On a recent trip to Quebec it saddened me to see many of the beloved churches in Quebec sitting empty and some even being torn down. Passing through small towns you can see the once staple of each small town look old and in disrepair.
In Disraeli a small town a few kilometres away from my family home has a church in the centre of town that is a beautiful structure once holding services that would gather the town people on a daily basis. Repairs were started, but then the community ran out of money and couldn’t finish the repairs. The church is now set to be torn down in the near future.

My husband felt it was a beautiful structure and did a drawing of the church which he gave to my Sister and she was thrilled to have a memory of the beloved church.

As the older generation are leaving us and younger generations are not going to church they are losing their importance in the community. In fact in Quebec people rarely get married anymore. It’s sad to see such beautiful structures with so much history decline in to rubble.
