My husband went for a walk and found out the hard way that a block in Quebec is not just a square city block.
It’s good to be back in Quebec visiting family and friends. St Joseph de Coleraine is a very small town, almost a village and we’re staying at my niece’s cottage which is beautiful.

While I catch up with my family on recent developments my Husband who speaks little French keeps himself busy working away and exercising. One of his favourite things to do is walk and usually enjoys walking about an hour per day. The weather is beautiful this week so the other day he set out on his daily walk. His Grandfather always said, “You don’t know a place until you’ve walked it.” The other day he went for a walk exploring different roads and decided to walk down a main road. Thinking the road was bringing him back to the cottage, after an hour he began seeing the lake in between get larger and the road began winding in the wrong direction. After an hour of walking he decided to check his phone and found out he had another hour to walk back home, he had walked to a little town called Disraeli.

Thankfully he likes to walk but even two hours was long for him. Needless to say he said the scenery was beautiful and he saw amazing homes along the way. How do you give your feet a rest after a two hour walk in the country?

So if you decide to go for a walk in Quebec listening to podcasts, you may want to check your phone to double check the route or you may be walking for a long time. A walk in Quebec could result in you walking around the lake and not just a city block.

Enjoy your trip and experience the beautiful Province of Quebec. Make sure you practice your French and enjoy the culture of a great Province.
