We have translated a variety of material over the decades in business. Our core material is technical translation and we often get a website or two to translate, but the pandemic has brought in a whole new set of translation documents that I didn’t even see coming. That’s what makes translation interesting is that you will get projects that you didn’t even know existed.
We do a lot of work with an organization that helps seniors and over the years the projects have been documents like how to find services for a specific need or where to call for a certain service. General information to keep them moving and getting the care they need.
The pandemic changed all of that and this is where things got interesting. The projects changed from how to access services to how to keep them entertained. We started getting projects like translating two hundred trivia questions to keep seniors entertained over the phone. That was harder than the technical translation as many included jargon not used in French. Then the translation turned to technology items such as how to use Zoom for meetings and communication with others. I now know Zoom inside out.
Projects like these show you that translation will always be required no matter what the World is going through. It always amazes us to see the type of projects that come across the desk and the information needed. I had only used Zoom once or twice before translating the entire process for use step by step. I now feel like an expert and can’t wait to translate Tik Tok. If you need translation for your projects you can find us at www.outridgetranslation.com
